Lip Filler

Have you always craved fuller, more luscious lips, or are your lips simply showing the signs of ageing? Lip fillers provide the perfect pout!

Ageing can cause changes in our lips, they loose their volume and can begin to flatten,  lines around the mouth can appear and the crisp lip border can disappear and result in your lipstick bleeding. The upper lip may increase in length while the surrounding lip tissue also looses its volume.  Lip Fillers put back volume in the lips and restore the equilibrium and shape.

Fuller or more balanced lips are high on many peoples wish list but there is often concern about “juju” lips or the “trout pout”  that the media tend to highlight. Our doctors at Jeunesse MedSpa® will ensure that your lips fit your face appropriately, giving subtle and very natural appearing lips.

All lip fillers we use are hyaluron based, a substance found naturally in your body. making them an incredibly safe treatment with results that can easily be tailored to you.

Beautiful natural lips are a key feature of the face.

The diagram above shows the features that make a beautiful pair of lips.

When you browse through magazines you will notice beautiful lips are not only full but also have good proportions. We are often asked by patients for fuller lips but we are always careful to pay attention to lip proportion and  volume, as well as the overall facial harmony. It is when facial harmony is disproportional that people often look “done” or strange.

Aesthetically pleasing lips are matter of personal preference.

Lip filler can be used to enhance:

  • Size
  • Shape
  • Structure
  • Symmetry

This can be achieved by

  • Adding volume to the body of the lip- this gives the lip volume and everts the inside of the lip out slightly.
  • Create a pronounced Cupids bow- the V shaped area in the centre of the upper lip
  • Define the lip border to stop lipstick bleeding and is like wearing lip liner
  • Enhance philtral columns- The philtrum consists of the two lines in the centre of the upper lip that connects to the nose. By enhancing this, it gives the upper lip more shape and curve, enhancing the sensuality of the lips.
  • Balance uneven lips
  • Reduce fine “smokers” lines – this area is often a key area of concern for patients
  • Oral Commissures – corners of the mouth. Filling this area turns the corners of the lips upwards creating a more positive and happy appearance.

All lip filler enhancements at Jeunesse MedSpa®are carried out by highly skilled doctors only.

After an initial planning consultation fully analysing your lips  in relation to your face including your chin, jawline and nose, our cosmetic injectors outline a treatment  plan to ensure beautiful natural lips, and book  a treatment appointment.

An application of a strong numbing gel for 20-30  minutes  prior to the treatment, helps reduce the discomfort. The lip filler also has anaesthetic in it to help reduce the pain even more. The area is cleaned with anti bacterial solution to reduce the risk of infection. We use tiny ultra-fine needles to inject the lip filler targeting specific areas to achieve the desired result. We recommend a review at 2-4 weeks and occasionally a further treatment is necessary to achieve the final look.

The result is a perfect set of lips that will make you love how you look.

The dermal fillers that we use are temporary, meaning that the body breaks them down. The Hyaluron based fillers usually lasts between 6 -12 months but this can vary from person to person and the amount of dermal filler used. We recommend having a review at 6 months.

Hyaluronic acid based (HA) lip  fillers  are one of our most popular treatments.  Our bodies naturally produce hyaluronic acid, a substance that has the ability to hold more than a thousand times its weight in water, ensuring excellent moisture in your skin.

The Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) & HA Fillers include

  • Great tissue integration
  • Minimal swelling
  • Reasonable longevity
  • Can be reversed

Side effects of hyaluronic acid fillers are usually  temporary and should only last a few days. They may include:

  • Bleeding from the injection sites
  • Swelling and bruising
  • Redness and tenderness at the site of the injection

More serious side effects or risks may include:

  • Severe and prolonged swelling or bruising lasting one week to 10 days
  • Lip asymmetry (parts of lips are different sizes)
  • Lumps and irregularities in the lips
  • Infection
  • Injection into a blood vessel, causing tissue loss & blindness
  • Ulceration, scarring, or stiffening of the lip
  • Allergic reaction causing redness, swelling, or itching around the lips

Lip fillers  usually last 6-12 month but in this area they  tend to last  longer due to lack of movement. It is very common for the improvement to last  longer however this is variable between individuals.
